Monster Hunter Wilds Breaks 10 Million Sales Mark, Massive Free Update Coming

by info540.br@gmail.com

In an unprecedented achievement for Capcom’s beloved hunting franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds has surpassed 10 million copies sold in just one month since its release. As the game continues to break company records, hunters worldwide can look forward to substantial free content updates starting this week.

Record-Breaking Sales Success

First revealed during The Game Awards 2023, Monster Hunter Wilds launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in late February this year, immediately delivering impressive numbers for Capcom. After selling an astounding 8 million copies within its first three days, the game has now reached the coveted 10-million-unit milestone in just one month.

To put this achievement in perspective, Monster Hunter World—previously considered the franchise’s breakthrough title—took nearly five years to reach the same sales figure, while Monster Hunter Rise needed a full year. Despite already setting a new Capcom sales record, industry analysts expect Wilds to continue its impressive trajectory in the coming months.

First Major Free Update Arrives This Week

The monster-hunting community has even more reason to celebrate as Capcom has confirmed the game’s first major free update will launch this Thursday (April 3rd). This update introduces several exciting additions to the already content-rich experience:

  • Mizutsune: This fan-favorite monster returns with new armor sets and weapons for players to craft.
  • Arch-Tempered Rey Dau: The game’s first ultra-challenging “Arch-Tempered” monster variant, accessible to hunters who have reached Rank 50.
  • Repeatable Zoh Shia hunts: Players can now farm this massive beast to create specialized equipment from its materials.

“These updates aren’t just about adding new monsters—they’re about expanding the entire Monster Hunter Wilds experience with content that rewards both new players and veterans,” explains game director Yuya Tokuda. “We’ve been listening closely to community feedback since launch.”

Social Hub and Seasonal Events

The update also introduces the highly-anticipated Grand Hub, a social space where hunters can gather to interact with one another between quests. This new area features engaging minigames including Barrel Bowling and special performances by the game’s Diva character.

Looking ahead to April 22nd, Capcom will launch the “Festival of Accord: Blossomdance” seasonal event, running until May 6th. This limited-time celebration will include:

  • Special time-limited quests with unique rewards
  • Exclusive seasonal equipment and layered armor
  • Festive decorations throughout the game world
  • Special gathering hub activities and challenges

“Festivals have become a beloved tradition in Monster Hunter games,” notes producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. “They give players something fresh to experience while bringing the community together around themed celebrations.”

Looking Forward: Lagiacrus Returns

Monster Hunter veterans have even more reason to be excited as Tsujimoto has strongly hinted that Lagiacrus will be making its triumphant return in a late May update. This fan-favorite leviathan hasn’t appeared in a mainline Monster Hunter game since 2017’s Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

Additionally, a mysterious collaboration quest is scheduled for the end of May, with Capcom keeping details tightly under wraps for now. Previous Monster Hunter collaborations have featured crossovers with franchises like The Witcher, Final Fantasy, and Street Fighter.

What Makes Monster Hunter Wilds Special

For those who haven’t yet joined the hunt, Monster Hunter Wilds places players in the role of a researcher investigating the mysterious “Forbidden Lands.” The game supports solo play or cooperative hunting with up to four players as you face off against increasingly challenging monsters.

Among its innovations, Wilds introduces Seikrets—versatile mounts that allow hunters to perform various actions while on the move, including sharpening weapons or gathering materials, streamlining the hunting experience without sacrificing depth.

The game’s massive desert region undergoes dynamic transformations, from dramatic weather shifts to earthquakes and sandstorms that can dramatically alter both battle strategies and navigation. These environmental changes create a living, breathing world that keeps even veteran hunters on their toes.

“We wanted to create a world that felt truly alive,” explains art director Kaname Fujioka. “The shifting environments aren’t just visual spectacle—they fundamentally change how you approach each hunt.”
